Yeah, y'know what kind of a pet I've been craving for the last year or so?

Pigeon.

I want a fucking pigeon.

Apart from the shit and the powder down, they're awesome. They're relatively easy to tame, quiet, come to love their owners especially if they're kept as single birds (although it's better for the bird to have a pal), they can be trained to some extent, and quite cuddly and affectionate when properly socialised. Also, they're hardy and not very demanding birds to keep as long as you have room for them and you have the time to clean after them. Awesome! I'm so going to make it happen one day when I move to a real flat, I'm going to get a pair of pigeons. If that doesn't work for some reason, I'll get ringneck doves, which aren't quite as cool but are fine too. They're noisy, especially the males, they don't have the charming bulky looks, are more timid and fragile, and just don't have as much spunk as pigeons :/

So, anyway, the Dubia roaches I had... Yeah, I ate them a while back. I wish I knew how to properly prepare them, they had potential. For starters, I had no idea how long they should be in the oven (tried roasting them). Without marinating or spices, they tasted pretty plain, but the same can be said about meat too, right? The taste was mildly nutty, a bit like a mix of almond and corn. The meat was white, female Dubias are always preggers after they mate so they had their eggs inside them. It looked a bit more gross than I would've thought, but it wasn't anything that you couldn't get over.

Will try again sometime.
